I will openly put my hands up and admit it – I’m an addict. For reasons even I don’t understand, true crime fascinates me and these documentaries have become my default way to unwind. If I have friends over, I might make an embarrassing joke about my streaming suggestions – but the evidence and response I often get would suggest I’m not alone.

How Music Helps My Mental Health

For as long as I can remember, music has always been part of my life. I have always felt a connection to music, despite having no talent of my own. Growing up, there was always a different CD in the car to sing along to. I used to “perform” karaoke to my teddies in my bedroom. I have suffered from anxiety my entire life, although I didn’t realise or seek help for it until I was around 22. When I was a teenager, my mental health went through the wars a bit as I was experiencing a lot of negativity in my life. It was then that I discovered the quote “Music speaks when words fail.” Music did speak to me when I couldn’t express into words how I felt.

The Hormone Diaries Part Four: Let’s Talk About Consent

Over the last year or two, we’ve been having plenty of public discussions around consent: from the revelations of the #MeToo movement, which have highlighted just how much work there is still to do, to campaigns pushing for better consent education as part of Sex Education at school, you’d expect most people to be more aware of the importance of consent in sexual interactions. However, recent cases at criminal trials and general discussions surrounding consent online and in the media shows that the topic is still misunderstood amongst young people and adults.
