A Little Life Update

Well, it’s been a while hasn’t it? Nearly 4 months actually. Which is baffling as it’s gone so fast but also so much has changed since the last time I put pen to paper (or whatever the online equivalent is). So I thought I’d ease myself back in with a little personal post today, a little life update to get you up to speed with what’s been going on with me!

A new job

So as you may have seen in my last post, talking about how difficult it can be to find a job during Coronavirus, I was made redundant from my last job in SEO around June/July time, which was a bit of a shock. That obviously led to endless job applications, rejections, panic about being able to pay my rent and a mini crisis as I took the decision to step away from the marketing world for a while and see what my options were in other sectors.

After about a month and a half of unemployment I found myself in a new role at a college in Oxfordshire. I’ve finally made the leap into the education sector that I’d been wanting to do since graduating, but I had always been told that I needed more experience. I’m helping students find their work experience placements and also doing a bit of teaching! It’s all still quite new but very rewarding and exciting and I’m really enjoying it! And this all leads me on to the next big change…

We’ve moved house.. And moved in!

Yes, those who have followed the blog for a while will know that for the last few years my boyfriend and I have been planning to move in together and it’s actually happened! We’ve moved to a lovely little Cotswold town, renting for now as we want to get to know the area and find our feet before buying! I’m so happy that finally our stint at long distance is over! It’s so nice just to be able to see each other every day and I’m really appreciating the little things.

We’re both really happy with the house as well – we managed to get nearly everything on our ‘ideal house’ list within our budget and it’s a lovely area, and we’re really enjoying making it our own!

The future of What Abigail Says

I’ve been taking this time to really think about the future of the blog. Whilst it’s still something I’m incredibly proud of and something I enjoy, I can’t commit as much time and effort to it as I could previously for a variety of reasons. So I’m taking a bit of a step back, and not putting too much pressure on myself. Yes, I will continue to write and create here as I do enjoy it, but I’m not going to hold myself to a schedule anymore. No more weekly posts, but more spontaneity! I realised that whilst it would be lovely to one day make this into some sort of career, I unfortunately just don’t have the time to dedicate to pursue that right now without fully burning myself out.

I’ve also got a few ideas for other little projects that I’m working through at the moment, so watch this space!

If you are looking for more regular content and updates, I’m posting more frequently over on Instagram and Twitter.

Well, I hope you enjoyed this little update and more importantly, I hope you’re all well and keeping safe and sane out there! Lots of love x
