It’s been a really really long time since I’ve written anything beauty related. If you’ve been around for a while, you might remember that I used to review my monthly Birchboxes which was really fun, but after a while I fell out of love with writing beauty content as it all felt too similar and to be honest, I don’t really know what I’m talking about half the time!
But having taken a blogging break recently, I’ve had time to take a step back and think about what I want to be putting out here on my little corner of the internet. I still don’t know much about skincare or beauty products, but I’ve always enjoyed reading about other people’s favourites and think it’s a nice way to get to know the person behind the blog a bit better.
So, let’s pause the chat there for a minute and dive into my skincare & beauty favourites that I’ve been loving recently.
Nivea Daily Essentials Moisturisers
My skin has a habit of reacting really badly to hormones, and due to my contraceptive coil they’ve been a bit all over the placed recently and my skin has taken a turn for the worst. I have combination skin, and depending on where I am in my cycle, my skin is either super dry or oil or sometimes both.
I use both the dry skin and oily skin Nivea moisturisers on different parts of my face throughout the month and they both leave my skin feeling loved and nourished. They have a really nice, pleasant smell and texture as well – but you can definitely tell the difference between the two formulas.
Simple Micellar Water Facial Wipes
I never really got on the micellar water hype a few years ago, but these wipes are lovely and refreshing! They feel lighter than my usual cleansing wipes and leave my skin softer overnight for sure!
Avant Deluxe Hyaluronic Acid Vivifying Face & Eye Night Cream
Where do I even start with this? It’s GLORIOUS. I received this Avant overnight face cream in a Glossybox a few months ago and nearly died when I saw the usual price of £98 (I know right?!) but blimey, if I won the lottery I would stock up on this stuff. It’s essentially magic cream. I go to bed with dry, patchy skin and wake up like some sort of fresh-faced Disney princess awaiting Prince Charming. I don’t use it every night though because at that price, I’m trying to make it last!
Magnitone First Step Vibra Sonic Compact Cleansing Brush
I received this Magnitone cleanser brush for my recent 25th birthday so have only been using it a few weeks but it’s great! I use it combined with my regular Simple moisturising cleanser and my skin feels so clean and soft afterwards. I’ve also noticed I get less redness and less blotchy during the day with my makeup sitting better on my skin as well!
Manna Kadar Bloom Mascara
Another Glossybox item! I wear this mascara during the day as it’s a bit less intense than my usual Benefit BADgal BANG mascara (which is also fantastic by the way). It really lengthens lashes and doesn’t clump at all, and I find it really gets into the individual lashes well.
Makeup Revolution Conceal and Define Concealer
Can a blogger even write a beauty post with mentioning Makeup Revolution?! I bought this concealer partly based on the blogger hype and partly as a friend recommended it to me and I wasn’t disappointed. It works well at covering blemishes as well as an under eye concealer for those dark bags. It’s not heavy or cakey at all and the range of shades is great too!
Other Little Gems
Lush Intergalactic Shower Gel
Lush are always smashing it out of the park so of course, I had to get one of their products in there somewhere. This was another birthday gift and it just smells glorious. There’s not much you can really say about a shower gel as it kinda just does what it is supposed to but this is definitely getting a bonus point for having a good amount of glitter in it!
Femfresh Freshening and Soothing Wipes
I’m never one to shy away from talking about vaginas on the internet. We all know that some days you need a little freshen up down below, and these Femfresh wipes are perfect! They fit nicely in your handbag, have pretty packaging and smell lovely without being too overpowering.
Living Proof Restore Mask Treatment
My hair is constantly in need of a bit of TLC and that’s where this hair mask steps in. Perfect for dry ends and essentially works like a quick deep conditioner. I leave it on for about 5-10 mins after shampooing before washing out and then let my hair dry naturally and you can really notice the difference!
And there you have it! A nice little favourites post which hopefully you find useful. I love seeing what products other bloggers are using, especially when there is so much out there nowadays.
Did you enjoy this favourites post? Would you like to see these more often, and on what topics? Let me know in the comments!
