2019 Goals

2018 was a pretty great year for me. When I look back on my 2018 goals, I am proud of how many things I have managed to accomplish or at least improve on. As I’ve said before, I don’t like to set resolutions as such, as I don’t believe they are that productive, so I prefer to set goals and targets for personal and professional growth.

In 2019, I would really love to grow my blog. 2018 has been a great year, and I have achieved a lot of the goals I set out to do and have grown my readership and community more than I could have imagined. Don’t get me wrong, I’m still a tiny dot in the blogosphere, but I’m proud of what we have got going on here and I can’t wait to (hopefully) continue to grow further. My blogging goals are:

Increase following on all socials that fit ‘me’

I’ve always been very open and honest about the reasons why I write a blog. For me, if I could choose to remove social media from blogging I probably would, but I understand and enjoy some aspects of it. Instagram is my biggest struggle, as it seems to be for many bloggers. I’m not naturally creative behind the camera, I’m not the sort to pose for photographs or be the centre of attention. I find I really struggle with motivation for Instagram and it therefore suffers slightly in terms of supporting my blog. So, in 2019, I have decided that although I will continue to use Instagram, I am going to focus more on growing the platforms that I enjoy like Twitter and Facebook. Whilst I won’t go into the numeric goals I have set myself, it would be wonderful to double what I currently have!

Be better organised and try and stick to a schedule

I’ve spoken about organisation and managing time whilst working quite frequently on the blog, as it’s something I do really struggle with. In the summer, I had gotten myself into a really good routine with planning posts in advance and creating content I enjoy, so that is something I really want to focus on and get back into. You may have noticed that I have taken most of December off blogging for this exact reason. I’ve been working my bum off behind the scenes so that I can come into 2019 organised, with great content planned and some fab opportunities to kickstart the year!

Introduce some new series and shift my content in a direction that I am happy with

Following on from this, I’m planning on starting some new series this year. I’ve really enjoyed creating my Hormone Diaries series this year, and it got a really positive reaction. This will of course continue in 2019, but I’m also planning a series that’s a little bit more about me and trips I take. More on that to come!

Reach out to brands and monetise

I set the same goal last year and it will continue! I’ve worked with some wonderful brands in 2018 including lovehoney, Hugo’s Chocolate Club, Vinoos Wine Gums and more! I would love to reach out to more brands in 2019 and continue to get my name out there a bit more. As always, it would be great to monetise and get paid for the content I create, but I’m not going to force it as money is not the driving factor as to why I blog.

Obviously, a new year comes with some personal reflection also. I’ve felt a bit lost this year, and have struggled with a lot of personal issues. But I would really like 2019 to be the year that I “find myself” (ugh, cliche). My personal goals for the year are:

Move out of my family home

After finishing University, I did what many graduates do and moved back in with my parents. It wasn’t part of my plan, but I got a job near to home so it made sense financially to stay here. However, my partner and I have been together for 4 years now and are currently long-distance, so it would be great to move in together in 2019.

Progress my career

I’ve been in my job about a year and a half now, and I love it. It’s made me realise that I do actually have ambition and I do want to do well in my career, something which I have never experienced before. I would love to progress in 2019, getting more qualifications and hands on knowledge in digital marketing and really push myself to do well.

Travel more

It’s yet another cliche but I would love to travel more in 2019. Currently I have no holidays booked, but there have been discussions about Disney (it would be my first time going outside of Europe and it’s bloody DISNEY) which is very exciting! I would love to do more weekends away and short breaks this year, including Copenhagen which is at the top of my travel list at the moment!

Make more of an effort with long distance friendships

I’ll be the first to admit that I am really rubbish at keeping in touch with friends that live far away (which is most of my friends at the moment). In 2019, I want to make more of an effort to keep in touch with those that live further away and visit friends around the country more often. However, I also want to make sure that I realise that friendships shouldn’t be one-sided, as I have had to experience that this year and it wasn’t great.

This post has turned out to be a lot longer that I thought, but I hope you have enjoyed reading my goals for the year to come. Have you made any goals or resolutions for 2019?

I struggle with social media connected to my blog as well. I am not a model, and I am not all that great with taking pictures and it feels like there is a pressure to be perfect on social media!

These are such great goals! I’d love to start reaching out to brands as well, I’ve never done that before so it’s something I’m quite nervous about but hopefully I’ll pluck up the courage this year. I want to travel more as well. Good luck with everything you want to achieve lovely xx

Some really great goals for 2019! I’m right there with you on the whole Instagram thing, I’m just gonna do it and not get caught up in the whole ‘game/art’ of it! I also took December pretty much off and it was nice but I definitely need to get myself organised this year now! Fingers crossed that you manage to move in with your other half and good luck with all your goals! x

Definitely making a schedule for blog posts and sticking to it! Ill health interfered so much last year and although nothing has changed, in fact it’s worse now than ever, I do want to try and not let it hinder me as much this year. 🙂

Amazing goals! So cool you got to work with lovehoney! I totally agree with the growing on platforms you like thing… I’ve been focusing on growing on Twitter which is where I get most of my engagement and just using Instagram as a place to have fun and post what I like and if I get followers, great but if not, it doesn’t matter too much 🙂 xxx

These are great goals, and I’m sure you can achieve them. I actually have some really similar goals, it can be hard to grow social media’s but I feel the same, I could continue to blog without it because I love blogging but a big part of it for me now is chatting to other bloggers <3

I’m exactly the same with Instagram, I just really struggle – there are so many rules and I just don’t *care* enough to dedicate any time to growing it. I really want to try though as it’s such a good way to get people to your blog!

Good luck with the rest of your goals 🙂 xx

I’m exactly the same. I didn’t start a blog to stress about getting the perfect photo, I’m here to write because that’s what I enjoy. I understand image is important, but Instagram stresses me out more than it does me good at the moment
