I’m not normally someone to focus on material objects. I would much prefer to do and do and see things, than own them. So it’s maybe because of this that I’ve always found ‘birthday wishlist’ or ‘what I got for my birthday’ posts a bit uncomfortable. To me, they can easily be seen as bragging or boasting about what you either expect to get, or what you have received.
However, I have recently been enjoying what I suppose are more personal posts. I’ve really been enjoying reading monthly favourites and goals posts, as I feel it is helping me get to know the blogger a bit more (and it’s always fun to be a bit nosey!)
Which leads me on to creating this post. Now, obviously this is a wishlist and I in no way expect to receive even half of these items. I will be incredibly lucky and thankful for whatever I receive, but more importantly, I will be spending time with loved ones, and that’s what really matters. This is purely to show you all the bits and bobs that I’m currently interested in.
As someone who doesn’t consider herself a typically girly-girl, I’ve surprised myself with how many beauty bits are on my birthday wishlist this year.
Let’s start with the Ariel Shell Brush Set by Spectrum Cosmetics. Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve been a huge Disney lover and my favourite princess has always been Ariel. As a child, I loved her because she was different to other princesses. She stood out from the crowd to me with her long red hair and she didn’t conform. Maybe Ariel is why I went on to dye my hair a variety of colours as a teenager!
This set just looks stunning. I’ve got one or two Spectrum brushes already and they are so soft and easy to use, so I’d love to be able to have a full set. This item is very pricey at £79.99 but I think it’s beautiful.
Next up on my list is the Balance Me Flash Cleanse Micellar Water. I first began using this after receiving a sample in one of my Birchboxes and it worked wonders for my skin. I ran out of this a few weeks ago and it’s a one of the more expensive skincare products I used, so I thought I would include it in my list.
The final beauty product included in my birthday wishlist this year is the Benefit the POREfessional Pearl Primer. Again, I received a sample of this in a Birchbox and fell in love. It’s an amazing primer that minimises the look of pores and my foundation sits so well on top of it. This retails at around £27 so it’s definitely a treat!
I’ve been trying to make more of an effort to read this year, and it’s been going fairly well! I think so far this year I’ve read about 6 books, which may not sound like a lot, but I’m trying to get back into the habit whilst working full-time, blogging and having a social life!
The first book on my birthday wishlist is Dark Pines by Will Dean. This is described as an atmospheric crime thriller and focuses Tuva Moodyson, a deaf female reporter for a local newspaper in the small Swedish town of Gavrick. Two hunters are found dead in a secluded forest with their eyes missing echoing a historic case back in the 1990’s. Sounds creepy, right?
Another book I have been desperate to read is Owning it: Your Bullsh*t-Free Guide to Living with Anxiety by Caroline Foran. In this, Foran chronicles her experience with her own anxiety and a variety of treatments in a no-frills-attached manner. I think it will be really eye-opening and intriguing to see how someone else copes with their mental health and the treatment options made available to them. It just sounds like a great read.
Yes, I’m officially old enough to be asking for bedding for my birthday. But, in my defence, look how pretty this Cath Kidson Paper Rose Bedding Set is! I have no real reason for wanting this, other than I think it’s adorable and it’s been ages since I’ve had new bedsheets and covers.
I also really like this Saving For A Rainy Day Money Box for keeping all my loose change safe and maybe helping me to save for nice day trips with my partner.
The final thing I will be adding to my birthday wishlist this year is the Bounce Below for Two experience day. Found in the heart of Snowdonia National Park, Bounce Below is essentially cave-diving mixed with trampolining, and it looks incredible! I love going adventuring and exploring and with bouncier trampolines, bigger nets and huge slides, I don’t think you could get any more fun crammed into this cave!
I hope you enjoyed this post and maybe learnt a little bit more about me along the way. Is there anything on your birthday wishlist at the moment? Let me know in the comments!
