Yet another month has passed and it’s time f the April Birchbox Review! The April Birchbox is in collaboration with UK fashion and homeware brand Cath Kidson, to celebrate their 25th birthday. Cath Kidson is renowned for her pretty floral prints, hence the gorgeous design of this month’s box.
The theme for the April Birchbox was ‘Brighten Up Your Day’ and this box certainly does. The design is light and pretty and has a spring-like feel to it. I was really happy when I first saw the contents of my box, as I feel like these are all good quality products that I will use frequently.
Cath Kidson Hand Cream
First up is the Cath Kidson Hand Cream. Every subscriber received one of these full-sized products in their April Birchbox, featuring an exclusive Birthday Rose design. This cream is as you would expect; it’s very kind to your skin, very moisturising and smells gorgeous. It’s more of a fruity and floral scent than I would normally choose for a hand cream, but it’s not overpowering. A great handbag essential.
Marcelle BB Cream Golden Glow Illuminator
For a BB cream, this has quite a full coverage and is actually a little dark for my skin. The cream is quite greasy, in the sense that you can easily transfer the product onto a tissue without much effort (so don’t risk wearing white with this!). It definitely gives you a radiant glowing look, but unfortunately I don’t think I will be able to use this as it’s simply too dark for me.
Beautaniq Beauty Fill and Tame Brow Gel in Brunette
I have a full fringe that covers my eyebrows, so I have never really tried any sort of brow product before. This has a mascara type wand, which makes for easy application for a novice! The colour suited my dark hair, but I’m not sure how well this would suit a lighter brunette. This product gave a nice, natural filled in look to my eyebrows and I would probably use this again (even if nobody would see it!)
Lumene Overnight Bright Sleeping Cream
This is a brand I’ve not come across before, so I was excited to try this night cream. As someone with a very oily T-zone, I find some products can leave my skin feeling quite greasy in the morning. However, this sleeping cream left my skin feeling soft, supple and very moisturised. It’s not overly thick and smells very natural and subtle. I’ll definitely be using this again!
ModelCo Baked Highlighter in Moonshine
This was the sneak-peek product from the March Birchbox, and subscribers could choose between two different shades. I opted for Moonshine as I was curious to try a bronzed shade of highlighter.
Let me shield my eyes from the blinding light! No exaggeration, this product is amazing. As a gold toned product, I expected quite a subtle glow, but this highlighter really does pop! Yes, it’s probably the smallest highlighter you’ll ever see, but think how handy this will be for travel or festivals.
Overall, I really liked the products I reveived in my April Birchbox. Despite the BB cream being the wrong shade for me, it still felt like an okay product that I would try again in the right shade. The stand out products for me are the ModelCo highlighter and the Lumene Sleeping cream. Both really surprised me as I didn’t expect them to be as good as they were. The pigmentation of the highlighter is amazing, and I think the small size can be a good thing. The Sleeping Cream was very nourishing and left my skin feeling very refreshed.
