It’s that time of the month again where I share with you the contents of my Birchbox. For those who aren’t aware, Birchbox is a beauty subscription service that sends you a personalised box per month for just £10 and often features popular and high-end brands.
This month’s theme was Mindfulness and the design on the box fits that perfectly. I love the styling and the colours and will definitely be using this for storage in the future! The products I received are also pretty spot on for what I would describe as self-care; there’s a good mix of skin-care, make-up and hair products for a full pamper evening!
Now, let’s get on with reviewing the products I received…
I adore charcoal masks and find they work super well with my combination skin. I’m always looking for different brands to try, and this is a contender! Although slightly hard to apply due to the stickiness of the mask, this product worked so well at getting all of the crap out of my skin and wasn’t at all painful to remove. It left my skin feeling really soft and fresh. I’ll definitely be using this again and probably re-purchasing!
GLAMGLOW is one of those brands that I have heard so much about online, but have yet to try out myself (mainly due to the pretty expensive price-tag). Again, this mud mask contains charcoal and is used to unclog pores and can also be used as a spot treatment for those with sensitive skin. I will admit, this product did feel a bit more luxurious than other mud masks I have tried in the past as it had a really nice consistency and felt nice on my skin, but I’m not convinced that it’s worth over £40 for a full sized product.
If you are a regular reader, you will know that haircare isn’t really my thing. I find hardly any products actually work with my hair as it is dry, damaged, coloured and generally out of control. This spray is supposed to add volume whilst blow-drying as well as offer heat protection. I can’t say I noticed my hair looking any different after using this, but it did seem to leave my hair feeling a bit softer than usual. It’s also got a really nice scent, more floral and fruity and less chemical than other hair products I’ve used.
I’ve received a Rituals shower gel before in my July box and I was excited to try out a different one! This shower gel is quite thick and a little really does go a long way. it always feels like I’m treating myself when I’m using it! This gel smells amazing and leaves your skin really smooth and made my shower much more relaxing than normal.
And finally, the one we have all been waiting for. I was really excited when Birchbox announced that everyone would be receiving a sample size BADgal Bang! mascara as I had heard mixed reviews. I have quite short and straight eyelashes so I’m always drawn into the marketing web of mascaras as they promise so much. I’ll be honest, this wasn’t as amazing as I was expecting, but t’s still good! The wand is really easy to use and does well at preventing clumping. The product did make a difference to the length of my lashes, more so than my current mascara, but it didn’t offer a lot of definition and it felt like my eyelashes still didn’t have that *pop* and drama that I’m desperately searching for. I’ll keep using this as it’s still a god product, but from a high-end brand I think I was expecting a little more.
Overall, I’m really happy with this month’s box. I love face masks and skincare products so I will definitely be using the BLAQ and GLAMGLOW products again. I was a bit disappointed to receive another haircare product as they never really work for me, but the addition of the shower gel and mascara more than makes up for this. Although I feel a little bit let down by the BADgal BANG! mascara, it could be that I just have high expectations, as it did make my eyelashes look very long, just not very dramatic which is what I was hoping for.
What did you receive in your box this month? Are you tempted by any of these products?
