This post was created in collaboration with Jen’s Sweet Shop, who kindly gifted me a retro sweet box for review. All opinions, as always, remain honest and my own.
Jen’s Sweet Shop is a traditional and retro sweet shop, based in Sutton Coldfield in the UK. Set up 8 years ago, Jen’s Sweet Shop aims to bring the nostalgic sweets of the past to your doorstep for just £5.95! Being a sweet tooth and a lover of all things retro, I was super excited to receive one of these charming little boxes in the post.
You can subscribe for bi-monthly or monthly boxes, all of which contain a random selection of traditional sweets from years gone by. there are three types of boxes to choose from, the Ultimate Mystery Mix-Up, the Perfect Pick n Mix-Up and the Tasty Traditional Mixup, so there really is something for everyone!
So what did I receive?
My box contained Ice Cream Candy Cones, Coca Cola Bottles, Watermelon Slices, Sherbet Lemons, a Coca Cola Mega Lolly and a Tropical Fruits Mega Lolly. I won’t go into detail about every sweet, but my favourites were the Ice Cream Cones. The Watermelon Slices as well were very unique, completely different to any sweet I have ever tried before so give them a go if you’re brave enough!
I loved how the sweets were packaged in clear bags so you had the immediate excitement of seeing the sweets once the box was opened. I also liked that there is no waste and excess packaging, and the box is recyclable. You also get a list of the treats you have received along with an ingredients list, which is super helpful if you have any veggie’s, vegans etc in your household. On opening the box, you really do get the joy of a child in a sweet shop, but in the comfort of your own home!
I would highly recommend Jen’s Sweet Subscription Boxes to anyone who likes to daydream back to their childhood every now and again and who wants to relive the childish excitement of indulgence. They would make wonderful gifts for friends and family, even if you’re on a tight budget.
